This beautiful little girl actually instigated this charcoal portrait. She begged her mother for it. Fascinated, her mother then embarked on a quest for the right artist. I was delighted when she relayed to me that several of her friends had recommended me. We then arranged for her daughter to come to my studio for the photoshoot—on her birthday—before her surprise dinner party. Her mother told me she likes to give her children memories. (How thoughtful!) I imagine this little girl will always remember her 8th birthday—at least when she views her portrait, she will! We had a lot of fun!
"It was a wonderful and exciting experience getting the portrait done. It was a wish from our daughter and it is always lovely when you can fulfill that. For our daughter, it was a dream come true! We are so happy to have it, and so was my husband when he saw it after it arrived home. Our friends have also said that it captures her perfectly. It will always have a very special place in our hearts during its time with us, and then when it is time to pass it on, it will have a special place in my daughter's family and hopefully her children's homes too!"
—The Mother
I love creating charcoal portraits. It is such a sensitive medium. And it has been used by artists since the days of the cavemen. My portraits are usually 11"x14" or 18"x24", which makes them very personal, not taking up a lot of wall space. And they are pennies on the dollar in price compared with oil portraits, if cost is a consideration. Please feel free to call me at 727-442-5553, or email me, to come to a visit to my art studio and see what kind of portrait you would like. Call very soon to avoid the Holiday Rush!
