Custom Portrait Painting of 4 Children in a Garden

I was delighted when the little one scrunched custom portrait painting of 4 children in a gardenhis hands together and wriggled his toes—I really think young children do that to entertain us. The other siblings showed their own personalities to great advantage too. That’s was inevitably what happens when you have four children in a custom portrait painting—you might think it a small challenge to take the reference photos—but so much fun.

The mother also wanted me to paint something of her newly-planted rose garden in the portrait. I went out to the back of her house to see it, and was surprised at how “new” it was. Well, creating blooms with a fairy godmother’s whisk of a brush was right up my alley too.

When the mother came to see the finished painting, she gave me my reward by telling me:
“Oh! Beautiful! You captured them perfectly. It looks just like them. The setting is perfect. It’s something that you do once in your life—you want it to be right and you have to do it now while they are still young. Thank you. I love it.”

Afterwards I helped with the framing. The mother selected a hefty ornate black and yellowish-sort-of-silver frame which undeniably suited the large portrait. Then she chose a very visible wall in her house to hang it. It was stunning to behold, for sure—though I did slightly gasp as I considered the mechanics of essentially suspending (very securely) a heavy painting up in the air over a expansive opening. I loved the whole portrait process for these endearing children and I would love to paint your family too!
